OSMP MARPOL Surveyor
The Prevention of Pollution from Ships of 1973 and its Protocol of 1978,' in more popular terms the MARPOL Convention, is often hailed as a very effective international instrument to combat marine pollution. The periodical survey should consist of an inspection, with tests when necessary, of the equipment to ensure that requirements relevant to the particular certificate are complied with and that they are in a satisfactory condition and are fit for the service for which the ship is intended. MARPOL 73/78 aims to minimize pollution of the seas, including dumping, oil and exhaust pollution.
